In addition to my portrait sessions, I have recently made the jump into wedding photography. I have several weddings I am shooting next year and to best prepare and refresh some skills I have been shadowing an amazing local photographer. Dino Petrocelli a photographer here in Albany, who in addition to photographing weddings and portraits, shoots for ever major bike magazine, has been on the Discovery Channel’s show Orange County Choppers and recently photographed the wedding of “Senior” from that show, has been kind enough to take me under his wing and show me the ropes of wedding photography. Though I have shot a wedding on my own before, I wanted to learn more from someone who has been in the business and who has established themself in the field. He has been kind enough to let me follow him around while asking tons of questions, take photos and learn first hand the necessities and tricks it takes to shoot a wedding that is both technically correct and artistically unique. If you are getting married and have the budget for a true, seasoned professional I would recommend him in a heartbeat.  The following shots in this post are pictures I took from more of a second shooters vantage point - mostly experimenting with light, camera settings, and composition while trying to stay out of his way so he can take the shots he needs to take. I have learned so much from Dino the few times I have gone out to weddings with him, and I can’t wait to apply all that I have learned to the weddings I will be shooting on my own.
